BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Challenges Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Players have started using tailored sessions created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four categories of assignments, but where most simply offer outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.

A number of these gated guns might eventually find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and functions solely at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

One more community participant brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when doing the challenges in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

For now, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced player experience in coming revisions.
